  1. The simplest way to install all Python dependencies is to install thefull SciPy stack using theinstructions, then installBiopython according to itsinstructions.

  2. Older versions Mac OS X will require you to install XQuartz 2.7.5, which is availablefrom the XQuartz project.

  3. Install Homebrew following the installation and post-installationinstructions.

  3. Download the pRESTO bundle, open a Command Prompt, change directories tothe download folder, and run:

  4. For a default installation of Python 3.4, the pRESTO scripts will beinstalled into C:Python34Scripts and should be directlyexecutable from the Command Prompt. If this is not the case, thenfollow step 5 below.

  5. Add both the C:Python34 and C:Python34Scripts directoriesto your %Path%. On Windows 7 the %Path% setting is locatedunder Control Panel -> System and Security -> System -> AdvancedSystem Settings -> Environment variables -> System variables -> Path.

Presto is a third party 'AirPrint Enabler' that seems to run only on Windows. Do you have a Windows computer somewhere on your network? Perhaps your Mac is finding that Windows machine and using it as a print server since it is reporting that it supports AirPrint and would be, therefore, Mac-friendly.


What you need to do is identify the kind of printer you have and how you are connected to it. Then, download the appropriate drivers for the Mac and install them. After that, you should be able to connect directly to the printer and print. If you post what kind of printer you have and how you are connected to it, we may be able to help.
